This week, the Friends of the Perry Public Library are holding their biannual book sale, and the community is invited to fill their bookshelves without spending too much money.

Library Director Mary Murphy says the sale will be held in the library’s large meeting room, and runs Friday from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. Murphy says the books available are from public donations as well as withdrawls from the library, so there is a wide variety to choose from. She adds, there will be different pricing for the two days of the sale. “Things to remember: the first day is the regular prices; the second day is half price. So if you want to wait until all the good books are gone, come on Saturday. What’s better is, come on Friday, look and buy kind of what you want, and then come back on Saturday and you can get a whole library bag full of books for $5!”

In addition to physical books, the sale also includes audiobooks, DVDs, CDs, and more. The proceeds will go towards yearly programming at the library. Murphy points out, they don’t have a normal line item on the City budget for programs, so things such as the Summer Reading Program are paid through fundraisers such as this and the Friends group.
