tMonday’s Heart of Iowa Activities Conference cross-country meet saw both the Greene County girls and boys finish in seventh place. The event was hosted in Alleman by North Polk. Coach Jeff Lamoureux said he saw continued improvement from both squads against what he termed was very good competition.

North Polk won the boys’ team title over Gilbert on the basis of the sixth runner’s finish after both finished with 32 points. Nevada had 102, Roland-Story (Story City) 105, South Hamilton (Jewell) 123, PCM (Monroe) 164, Greene County 174, Saydel (Des Moines) 219.

Logan Woodruff led the boys from Greene County by finishing in twenty-fourth place in 18:38 for the five kilometers (3.1) miles. Luis Velazco was thirty-third in 19:16, Dakota Mobley, thirty-fifth in 19:26, Ethan Frederick, thirty-ninth in 19:35, Ethan Larsen, forty-first in 19:53, and Jose Velazco, forty-second in 20:37.

NP won the girls’ title with 50 points to Gilbert’s 56. PCM had 85 points, followed by Nevada 91, R-S 92, SH 164, Greene County 176, and Saydel 224.

Ashlee Harmeyer led the girls from Greene County with a time of 22:58 for 26th place. Conner Allendar was 32nd in 23:13, followed by Kassie Lamoureux, 33rd in 23:17, Makala Kafer, 41st in 25:10, and Tieryn Tucker, 44th in 25:57.

Up next for the Rams is the make up of the Greene County Coed Invitational this Thursday the 17th northwest of Grand Junction at Spring Lake State Park.
