Genesis Development recently announced new changes to some of its services.

Starting today, the mental health therapy services, as well as the operation of the crisis center in Woodward will be with Zion Recovery. Genesis has also reached an agreement with Imagine the Possibilities to continue to provide services for many of Genesis’ individuals with developmental disabilities.

Imagine the Possibilities was established in 2016 and has locations in Dewitt, Dubuque, Corning, Guttenberg, Oskaloosa and is headquartered in Maquoketa. They will take over Genesis’ five office locations, including Jefferson, Boone, Lenox, Indianola and Storm Lake.

Most of Genesis employees will have the opportunity to transfer their employment to Imagine with no new employee waiting periods and no gaps in benefits. Several services that Genesis clients currently received will be available through Imagine. However, if there is a service that is not provided by Imagine, they will work with clients to find another service to fill the void. There will be additional informational meetings held at Genesis sites for employees and clients.

The moves come after the non-profit organization announced a budget shortfall for the last quarter of the fiscal year. Another previous change was moving the company’s CEO Wendy Malone to an advisory position. The previous CEO Terry Johnson retired this past summer after 40 years of service to Genesis.
