A Jefferson man was sentenced to probation following a December 2018 incident.

According to court documents, 51-year-old Randy Robert Lundberg pled guilty to an aggravated misdemeanor for his second offense for possession of methamphetamine. Lundberg had a two-year prison sentence suspended and was placed on probation for two years.

The charge stems from a traffic stop that occurred in the 300 block of West Clark Street in Jefferson on December 1, 2018. An officer noticed the smell of marijuana coming from the vehicle and conducted a probable search. The officer found drug-related items and the devices were sent to the Criminalistics Laboratory, and received positive results for marijuana and methamphetamine.

Lundberg was also ordered to pay over $1,000 in fines, surcharges, court costs and probation fees. Lundberg was originally charged with a Class D Felony for his third or subsequent offense for possession of methamphetamine, an aggravated misdemeanor for his third or subsequent offense for possession of marijuana and a simple misdemeanor for possession of drug paraphernalia. Court documents show the felony was amended to an aggravated misdemeanor and the other charges were dismissed.
