Homecoming Week continues for the Greene County School District.
The week climaxes to the events taking place tomorrow. The homecoming parade will take place at 2pm. The route is from the high school parking lot, north on Chestnut Street and it ends at the Greene County Courthouse. Student Council member Ellie Madson says there’s still time for any businesses and organizations that wants to get involved.
“If you would like to be entered into the parade you can call the (high) school or you can contact Deb Marquart and she will put your entry into the parade. If you are participating in the parade please be there by 1:30(pm).”
The king and queen coronation ceremony will then take place on the south plaza of the courthouse. The Homecoming football game against Kuemper Catholic will begin at 7pm and the Ram marching band will perform at halftime with their show “Love” with music by Rick Astley, Counting Crows, and the Temptations.
The week wraps up with the high school dance on Saturday from 8-11pm at the Jefferson Community Golf Course Clubhouse. Student Council President Sophia Ausberger talks about the new venue for the dance.
“We’ve had all of our homecoming and winter formal every single year that I’ve been in high school pretty much, at the Elks Club, which is a really great facility. But when you have two dances there it tends to feel like the same dance, and then the kids aren’t as excited to go because it just feels like they’re doing the same thing twice when they go for winter formal. So I looked at every available venue in the entire county pretty much that we could have a dance, and I think the golf course is our best bet. I’m really excited to go out there and see how it goes.”
Admission to the dance is $5 per student. The proceeds will go back to the District to support student activities.
