The different vendors at the 2018 event

An event returns to Jefferson next week and it is geared toward service awareness for the elderly population.

The second annual Senior Fun Day is scheduled for Tuesday, October 8th from 10am-2pm at the Greene County Community Center. Activities include a veteran’s pinning at 10am with Kindred Hospice, followed by bingo from 11am-noon. Attendees can also visit with 30 vendors, along with document shredding with Secured Shreds, dropping off expired or unwanted prescription medications with local law enforcement and participating in a virtual dementia tour. The Gardens Retirement and Assisted Living Director Brianne Fister says they have expanded the dementia tour from last year’s inaugural event.

“This year we’re going to have a layout of like an apartment (that’s) kind of condensed. We’ll have a bed, a chair, (and) laundry so you can kind of actually try and fold laundry and make a bed and see the difficult challenges they face in just day-to-day activities.”

Everything is free and open to the public. No pre-registration is necessary.
