Avid campers looking to spice up their typical cuisine are invited to an educational program this Saturday.

Springbrook State Park in Guthrie County is hosting an outdoor cooking event from 1-3 p.m. this Saturday at the campground gazebo. Iowa Department of Natural Resources Training Specialist Anne Riordan is leading the event, “Where we can do everything from dutch oven cooking to open fire cooking. I can have camp stoves there, I’ve got some pie irons, we cook things on sticks, it’s just fun. Everybody loves food, everybody loves to eat and just knowing new ways of cooking things is really fun.”

Cooking equipment will be provided, but Riordan says she enjoys learning new cooking tips as well, so attendees are welcome to bring their own equipment, favorite recipes, and ingredients. For more information contact Riordan at 641-295-6028.
