A fire in the kitchen at the Burger King in Perry led to the evacuation and early closure of the restaurant late Friday evening.

Sources say the fire started at around 11 p.m. It was located near the broilers, but was likely caused by an electrical malfunction. Employees were able to put out the blaze themselves with a fire extinguisher prior to the arrival of the Perry Fire Department. Firefighters ensured the flames were out and helped clear the building of smoke using exhaust fans. No one was injured during the incident, and there was no apparent property damage either. The exact cause of the fire is under investigation. The Perry Police Department and Dallas County Emergency Medical Services also responded to the scene.
