Former Maryland Congressman and Democratic Presidential hopeful John Delaney will be returning to Dallas County this weekend, and the public is invited to get another look at the candidate.

Delaney and the Perry Area Democrats are hosting a gathering they’re calling “Caucus and Quesadillas,” which will be held at Casa de Oro in Perry on Sunday from 3-4:30 p.m. Delaney was one of the first Democratic candidates to stop in Perry at the beginning of 2019, as he visited with the public in February at the Perry Perk Coffee Shop. The community is once again encouraged to meet the former congressman, who was also the first to declare his intention to seek the Democratic nomination for President of the United States.

Delaney is one of 19 individuals still vying for the nomination, many of whom have spent a lot of time in the area recently as the countdown to the Iowa Caucuses continues. He’s also one of 11 who has visited Dallas County this year, and will be one of three to have visited multiple times, joining Hawaii Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard, who has visited Perry and Adel, and California businessman Andrew Yang, who has been to Adel twice. Other candidates who have visited Dallas County include: former Texas Congressman Beto O’Rourke, Southbend, Indiana Mayor Pete Buttegieg, and Minnesota Senator Amy Klobuchar, who each visited Adel; former San Antonio, Texas Mayor Julián Castro, Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders, and Massachusetts Senator Elizabeth Warren, who stopped in Perry; and New Jersey Senator Cory Booker, and California Senator Kamala Harris, who visited Waukee.

“Caucus and Quesadillas” is free to attend and registration is not required. For more information on the event, contact Perry Area Democrats Chairperson Monica Peitz at 515-465-9882.
