The candidates running for city and school board elections this November have been announced for Greene County.

According to the Greene County Auditor’s office, there are a few contested races in the county. The City of Jefferson has one of the contested races for mayor. Craig Berry is seeking re-election and he will be challenged by current Council member Matt Gordon. There is also a contested race for the two available Council seats in Jefferson. Current Council members Matt Wetrich and Dave Sloan will be challenged by Sean Sebourn. The other contested races for Scranton City Council and Grand Junction City Council. All other city elections in the county are uncontested.

There is one contested race for the school board elections. The Greene County School Board will be decreasing the number of board members, going from seven to five, following the reorganization period. There are three people running for two seats. Those individuals include current board members John McConnell and Steve Fisher, along with newcomer Randy Lebeck of Grand Junction. The Paton-Churdan School Board will be an uncontested race with current board president Dave Palmer running for re-election and newcomer Kelly Minnihan.
