The Perry City Council convened Monday evening in regular session.

The first action item was the approval of the third pay request from Jensen Builders in the amount of $231,307.47 for the new hangar, taxilane, and apron at the Perry Municipal Airport. The Council also gave authorization to potentially purchase a used snow plow for the airport at an auction Thursday in Webster County, which is not to exceed $25,000. Following that, they awarded the bid to Ladals Concrete for the 2019 Wiese Park improvement project, which included an alternate for the trail system, for a total of $54,220. Additionally, the Council awarded the bid for the mechanical equipment replacement for the McCreary Community Building, with the low bid of $280,949 belonging to Baker Mechanical.

Other items approved included: waiving the building permit fee for the building trades class at Perry High School; a fireworks display for this year’s Homecoming festivities; the appointment of Joanne Warnock to the Planning and Zoning Commission; and the 2019 fiscal year Iowa Department of Transportation street finance report. Finally, the Council held the final readings for ordinances, including establishing Central Heavy Industrial as a new zoning district, and rezoning a portion of the downtown area from Heavy Industrial to Central Heavy Industrial.
