The 2018 ADM Homecoming King and Queen

Don’t forget: the annual Adel-DeSoto-Minburn Tiger Fest event is happening tonight, and the community is invited to celebrate Homecoming.

Due to expected inclement weather this evening, the school has elected to move all activities inside. The festivities begin at 5:30 p.m., with vendors and carnival games in the north gymnasium at ADM High School, as well as a dinner provided by the ADM FFA, sold out of the concession stand. Student Council Advisor Tammie Smith says there will be a wide assortment of things to do and see during the event, and she points out that it’s a great platform for some exposure. “We encourage businesses in the Adel-DeSoto-Minburn area, and churches and local organizations, to have a booth at the Tiger Fest. Sometimes the businesses will give out prizes, but they hand out their business cards and they can talk about what they’re all about while the kids are playing the games. So it encourages local businesses to support the school and the school to support local businesses.”

Smith adds, there’s no cost for the businesses to be a part of Tiger Fest, so any that are interested can show up before before 5 p.m. As for specific events tonight, the coronation of the Homecoming King and Queen will be at 7, and the powder puff flag football game is expected to start at 7:15. The Homecoming Parade has been cancelled. The candidates for this year’s queen are Abi Hlas, Elle Hook, Josi Lonneman, Paige Martin, and Morgan Meyer, while the potential kings are Bret Brownsberger, Taylor Hughes, John Simmons, Carter Slater, and Max Weesner.

Additionally, Raccoon Valley Radio will once again be at Tiger Fest. We will broadcast live inside the gym from 4-6 p.m., while playing music and providing public address services. Also, for anyone who can’t attend the festivities, you can listen to the coronation live on FM 107.9 KKRF. The broadcast will start at 6:30 p.m. and will include interviews with all ten members of the Homecoming Court. Listen to tomorrow’s news for a full recap of tonight’s events.
