The Perry City Council will convene Tuesday evening in regular session.
Due to Monday being Labor Day, the meeting was pushed back a day. The meeting will begin with three public hearings. The first will be establishing Central Heavy Industrial as a new zoning district, and after the hearing the Council will consider the first reading of a related ordinance. The other two are regarding an amendment to the Urban Renewal Plan, and an agreement with Perry Economic Development and tax increment payments. Later in the meeting, the Council will consider resolutions approving both items.
In old business, they will have discussion and possible action regarding accepting an agreement with the Iowa Department of Transportation for a general aviation vertical infrastructure program for the new fuel facility at the Perry Municipal Airport. Also related to the airport, they will consider a pay request from Jensen Builders for the demolition of the old hangar. In new business, the Council will consider a resolution accepting the final plan for the new waste water treatment plant. That will be followed by consideration of an agreement with Perry Lutheran Homes for Wednesday fellowship meal cook services, as well as approving a residential construction project for the building trades class at Perry High School. They will also consider a community branding proposal from Brand Driven Digital.
Finally, the Council will hold the second readings for ordinances regarding rezoning an area from Heavy Industrial to Residential Duplex, and the vacation of portions of 2nd, Bateman, and Rawson Streets. They will also hold the first reading for rezoning an area from Heavy Industrial to Central Heavy Industrial. The meeting will be held at 6 p.m. Tuesday in the Clarion Room at Perry City Hall.
