The Perry community is mourning the loss of 12-year-old Kamdyn Hike, but also honoring his memory with a special service Monday afternoon.

Kamdyn, a seventh grader at Perry Middle School, suffered an acute asthma attack last week and was unable to recover. He passed away Wednesday at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines, but not before donating several organs and tissue to patients in need of transplants. On Thursday afternoon, friends and family members of his gathered at Mercy to honor his final gift with a Walk of Respect.

Additionally, this Monday the entire Perry community is invited to a celebration of life for Kamdyn at Pattee Park. The event will be held at the big shelter house at 3 p.m., and food will be provided. Attendees are encouraged to bring any pictures they have of him to share.
