The 2019 Perry youth flag football and cheerleading camps are nearly upon us, and the Parks and Recreation Department encourages kids from kindergarten through 6th grade to sign up.
Registration is still open for the kindergarten-3rd grade football camp. Participants will learn the fundamental skills of football in a low-impact environment. The camp will run from September 17th through October 24th. All games will be Thursdays at 5:30 p.m. at Wiese Park, with practices scheduled by individual coaches. The cost to participate is $20 for McCreary Center members and $35 for non-members. The deadline to sign up is September 6th.
To go along with the football camp, Perry Parks and Rec is also offering their youth cheerleading camp. Participants will learn cheers and stunts from the current Perry High School Cheer Squad, and will cheer during the flag football games. The deadline to sign up is September 3rd by 8 p.m., and the price is $15 for members and $30 for non-members. For either program, registration can be done at the McCreary Center or online. Assistant Parks and Rec Director Becky Halling also points out that there are no gender restrictions for the camps, so girls can sign up for football and boys can join cheerleading if they desire.
