The Adair County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Stuart Police Department and multiple other agencies in finding two suspects hiding on a property.
According to Adair County Sheriff Jeff Vandewater, the office was also assisted by the Madison County Sheriff’s Office, Cass County Sheriff’s Office, Greenfield Police Department and Iowa State Patrol in locating Matthew Jones of Indianola and Shannon Keeney of Des Moines last Saturday. Vandewater says the search proved difficult in the dark of night and Madison County’s K9 unit Orozco was instrumental in locating the suspects, who were found hiding under one of hundreds of vehicles on the property.
The suspects initially told law enforcement that they were star gazing, and upon further investigation they have been charged with possession of burglary tools, third degree burglary of a vehicle, and possession of methamphetamine. On Sunday a search warrant was executed on Jones’ vehicle which led to additional charges of third degree burglary of a structure, and second degree theft. Raccoon Valley Radio will bring you more information as it becomes official.
