A reminder that a special event is happening later today in Jefferson in honor of World War I.
In recognition of the 100th anniversary of the U.S. Army’s historic Transcontinental Motor Convoy, which was under the director of then General Dwight D. Eisenhower, The Military Vehicle Preservation Association is currently on the same path they took on the Lincoln Highway. Over 60 vehicles arrived in Iowa yesterday and they will be rolling into Jefferson around 3:30pm.
The vehicles will be parked around the interior of the downtown square for one hour before heading to their overnight stop in Denison. The group is expected to be in San Francisco, California by September 14th.
Additionally, the Greene County Historical Museum will be open for a “museum party” from 1-4pm. Guests can visit and look at the displays for free.
