It’s official: Wild Rose Entertainment has been approved to partner with DraftKings Incorporated to handle sports-betting at its three casino locations, including Jefferson.
The agreement was approved by the Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission Thursday. Since the IRGC approved sports-betting rules, Wild Rose was then approved for its sports-betting license. Following initial approval, Wild Rose was searching for a sports-betting agency to team up with to handle the aspects of the new gambling option for Iowans. Wild Rose COO and President Tom Timmons notes that they are the first casino in Iowa to partner with DraftKings, as they see them as the most recognizable name in the sports gaming industry.
DraftKings was founded in 2012 and is headquartered in Boston, Massachusetts. DraftKings Sportsbook mobile and retail allows players in Iowa to engage in betting for major U.S. and international sports.
Additionally, Iowa law requires customers to go to a physical casino in the state to register for the new mobile sports betting until January 1, 2021. After that, customers can sign up outside of the casino. Wild Rose Jefferson General Manager Travis Dvorak says there’s no clear timetable of when he expects to start taking bets.
