Individuals wanting to run for mayor, city council or school board can start filing their nomination forms next week.

According to the Greene County Auditor’s office, nominations papers can be picked up and filed for the upcoming November 5th elections from Monday, August 26th-Thursday, September 19th. Anyone who is wanting to run for mayor or city council must turn in their forms to the County Auditor’s office by 5pm on September 19th. Those wanting to run for either Greene County or Paton-Churdan school boards must submit their nominations to their respective school board secretary, also by 5pm on September 19th.

Each city within the county has at least the mayor and one city council seat up for election. In the City of Jefferson, there are two council seats open, which are currently held by Matt Wetrich and Dave Sloan. As for the Greene County and Paton-Churdan school boards, each has two seats available.
