The Adel Public Library will be wrapping up their programming for August with a couple of free activities for various ages.

On Tuesday, August 20th, the library will host cartoonist Gene Hamilton, who will lead a cartooning workshop for school-aged kids. Hamilton will play what he calls “The Name Game” with the attendees, where he will show them how to make faces, animals, and other things out of their written names. He will also issue a “Doodle Challenge,” where kids will make a random scribble and watch as he creates something fun out of it. The program will be held at 2 p.m. in the library’s community room, and there is no registration required.

The following day, Wednesday, August 21st, the library will hold a pizza and movie party for tweens and teens. They will show the film “Captain Marvel” on the big screen in the community room at 3 p.m. There is no cost to attend, and kids don’t have to sign up ahead of time. The movie is rated PG-13 and has a runtime of 2 hours and 3 minutes. For more information on these and other upcoming events at the Adel Public Library, stop in or visit their website, AdelPL.org.
