Another arrest has been made as a result of drug investigations in Bayard this July.
According to the Guthrie County Sheriff’s Office, a deputy began investigating drug sales in the Bayard area on July 10th after three people were arrested on drug charges in the 100 block of Prairie Street. The deputy determined that 56-year-old Jeffrey John Herron of Bayard sold one-quarter of a gram of methamphetamine to one of the suspects. A search warrant was then executed at Herron’s residence located in the 200 block of 3rd Street on July 14th. Drug-related items and evidence of sales were recovered. While law enforcement interviewed Herron, he admitted he sold methamphetamine twice to another suspect in an eight week time span.
An arrest warrant was then issued on July 29th and deputies executed the warrant Wednesday. Herron is charged with possession with intent to deliver less than five grams of methamphetamine, a class C felony; possession of a controlled substance third or subsequent offense, a class D felony; and knowingly keeping a premises for use of a controlled substance, an aggravated misdemeanor.
