The Perry Public Library will be hosting a pair of events this coming Tuesday, both of which are free and open to the public.
The first event will be the monthly book club meeting, which will be held at 1 p.m. in the Clarion Room at Perry City Hall. The selected title for the month is “Manhattan Beach” by Jennifer Egan. Library Director Mary Murphy will lead the discussion, and she says the conversation often covers much more than just the books they read. There’s no sign-up required to join the club, and the selected books can be checked out at the library.
Later that day, the Library will offer a free livestream of a program offered by the Iowa State Bar Association’s “People’s Law School.” The focus of the webinar will be consumer protection from scams. The ISBA is partnering with the State Library of Iowa to bring free information to public libraries across the state, which cover a variety of legal topics. The free program will be held at 5:30 p.m. on August 20th in the library’s large meeting room, and registration is not required to attend.
