This coming Monday, Dallas County Hospital is hosting their next informational workshop in a series aimed at helping people deal with pain.
A neck pain workshop will be led by Dr. Rachel Swisher, a physical therapist with 21st Century Rehab. She says there are an assortment of ailments triggered by your neck, such as tension headaches, shoulder pain, and tingling or numbness in your arms and hands. During the program, Swisher will teach attendees how to take better care of their necks, though she points out there will be no treatment given. “What we’ll do is we’ll kind of go through general neck musculature that tends to be involved. We’ll talk about, ‘Where are those muscles, and what do they do?’ So we’ll kind of show you ways to do some general stretches, we’ll talk about activity modification; little things that tend to help most people with neck pain. (It’s) not specific to everybody (individually), but some good tips and tricks.”
The workshop will be held in the hospital’s second floor community room at 5 p.m. Monday. It’s free to attend but registration is required. You can sign up by stopping into or calling the 21st Century Rehab clinic at 515-465-3547, or by using the Dallas County Hospital website, which you can access by clicking the first link below.
