
As we head into the final days of the Iowa State Fair, a few results have rolled in for some Greene County participants.
In the twins and triplets competition, Kay Moranville and Karen Pope of Jefferson won first place in the age 18 and over category. In the food categories, Marianne Carlson of Jefferson had several top place finishes. She won the Iowa’s Best Biscotti contest with an overall cash prize of $100, which includes first place for her chocolate biscotti. She won the chicken and noodles contest and received a $150 cash prize. She also tied for the sweepstakes award for her various breads. She earned first place for french-style, mixed grain, potato and whole wheat bread contests. Additionally, Carlson won first place for the best peach pie.

Pie baking contest:
Marianne Carlson – 1st place peach pie
Homemade Two Crust Cherry Pie contest:
Marianne Carlson – 2nd place and $75 cash prize
Tribute to Bessie-Chicken and Noodle contest:
Marianne Carlson – 1st place and $150 cash prize
