With better weather conditions, progress is moving along on the new high school and career academy project for the Greene County School District.
Superintendent Tim Christensen says the exterior precast concrete walls are now in place for the career academy wing. A steel roof structure is being built over the academy, while underground utilities are being installed. Within the next month, concrete floors will be poured.
The exterior walls of the academic wing will be set within the next couple of weeks. The elevator shaft and stairs to the second floor are being built and the footings for the gymnasium are being poured this week. Once crews have finished the footings for the gym, they will move onto the auditorium wing. The plan is to have the entire structure enclosed by winter.
Other site work is also being done, including work on the south parking lot and the storm sewer line to be connected to the south retention pond.
