The Dallas County Board of Supervisors convened Tuesday morning in regular session.

Much of the meeting was focused on discussing the impending closure of Homecare Services, specifically the County’s plans for serving the community with meals and other functions. Representatives from Aging Resources and Community Services were in attendance for the discussion, and they pointed out that there are concerns regarding staffing and meal providers in the wake of Homecare dissolving. The Board took no action following the discussion, but will continue to explore possibilities at future meetings.

The only action items on the agenda were setting a pair of public hearings. The first is regarding a postage meter lease, and the second is on proposed amendments to Chapter 45 of the zoning ordinance. The hearings will be held on August 27th at 9:30 and 10:30 a.m., respectively. The Board also discussed but took no action regarding the process of submitting agenda items to the public. Finally, the Supervisors held a facilities workshop, during which they gave their blessing to Operations Director Rob Tietz to move the Facilities Department. Their current location is in the basement of the Administration Office, and they will move to the northern section of the old Adel Chrysler-Dodge-Jeep-Ram building across the street. The Board is still considering options for how to best utilize the south side of the facility, which was once the showroom for the dealership.

The meeting concluded with a closed session to discuss purchase of particular real estate for the Secondary Roads Department.
