The Adel City Council will convene tonight in regular session.
The meeting will begin with a public hearing regarding a proposed amendment to the Southbridge Urban Renewal Plan. Later in the meeting, the Council will consider a resolution approving the amendment. Following the hearing, Adel Partners Chamber of Commerce Director Deb Bengtson will give an update on the Chamber, including this past weekend’s Sweet Corn Festival. In old business, the Council will hold the second reading for an ordinance to increase the compensation for the Mayor and Councilmembers. They will also have discussion and possible action regarding the Parks and Recreation Board’s recommendation to keep the current cemetery regulations policy as is, as well as consideration of an appointment to the Library Board.
In new business, the Council will consider approval of a United States Department of Agriculture – Rural Development application, as well as a resolution to engage with an engineering firm to review the utility rates and surcharges, both of which were recommended by the Water and Sewer Committee. Other items on the agenda include: setting a date for a public hearing to enter into a development agreement with Cramer and Associates; the first reading of an ordinance regarding sidewalk maintenance; approval of the final plat for Timberview West, Plat 4; and three change orders and two pay estimates for water projects.
The meeting will be held at 6 p.m. tonight in the Council Chambers at Adel City Hall.
