The Perry Chamber of Commerce will host the next special farmers market this week, as they welcome the Perry Community School District for “Back-to-School Night.”

Chamber Director Lynsi Pasutti describes what attendees can expect during the event. “So we have the Booster Club joining us, and they will be doing a membership drive, but then also some apparel sales. So (they’re) showcasing some of their new items that they have for everyone to show off their Bluejay and Jayette spirit. The junior class will be there getting sign-ups for their fundraiser, they paint the ‘P’s’ on sidewalks, so taking information for that. I hear the Bluejay mascot will be there, but we’ll see if that actually comes true!”

A few other groups that are still finalizing details for being at “Back-to-School Night” include representatives from St. Patricks’ Catholic School and Perry Elementary and Middle Schools, high school student council, Pulse Dance Team, and Des Moines Area Community College. Additionally, Pasutti says the Chamber is working with Hy-Vee and Ben’s Five and Dime to collect materials for a school supply drive. The event will run during the normal farmers market hours, from 4-7 p.m. Thursday at the Josh Davis Plaza and along 2nd Street in downtown Perry.
