As you’re out enjoying the 2019 Adel Sweet Corn Festival today, don’t forget to also join the festivities for the 100th anniversary of Dallas County ISU Extension and Outreach.

Extension Director Jeff Jackson says they wanted to celebrate the milestone in a big way, and felt this was a perfect opportunity. “When we sat down and started brainstorming in our marketing committee from our council (and) started talking about, ‘How do we want to celebrate 100 years?’ And we wanted to go out with a bang! So we thought about what we believe in Dallas County is partnering, and so one of the things we said is, ‘Let’s partner with a great festival (or) great celebration here in Dallas County,’ and one of those great ones is the Sweet Corn Festival!”

Extension is the Elite Sponsor for the Festival, which affords them the opportunity to have special recognition during the event to celebrate their milestone. The presentation will be held at 12:30 p.m. at the Stage and Pavilion, and will include speeches by Extension Vice President Dr. John Lawrence and Jackson. Additionally, representatives from four of the County’s chambers of commerce will present keepsakes to honor their partnerships with Extension. Jackson adds, they will have four booths set up around the downtown area throughout the day, each focused on a different aspect of Extension and offering unique items to take home.
