The Guthrie Center Chamber of Commerce helped celebrate the grand opening of a new retail business Friday.

A ribbon cutting was held at Carvers Ridge, a business that sells personalized gifts, from engraved boulders to baking dishes. Owned by Anne and Tyson Greenwalt, the business started with a retail store in Stuart 10 years ago, before they moved their headquarters to Corning. This is the second location open for Carvers Ridge, located at 310 State Street, and Anne says her long-term goal is to open five stores across the state. She said she chose Guthrie Center for the new location because of her desire to reach more of central Iowa and because of the support the community has with a Main Street Iowa designation. Greenwalt unveiled the new location with a soft opening two weeks ago, and the business is now officially open for people to buy already-personalized gifts or make custom orders.
