The Jefferson Police Department has requested a warrant for a Des Moines man who allegedly stole a paycheck.

Police Chief Mark Clouse says an investigation began on July 29th of a Jefferson resident who noticed a paycheck was missing from her home in the 100 block of East Central Avenue. Clouse tells Raccoon Valley Radio the suspect, 35-year-old Cole Anthony Langford of Des Moines-who is a family member-allegedly stole the paycheck. Clouse points out the check was left blank and Langford signed his name on the check and cashed it for $500. The check was issued on July 23rd and cashed on the 24th.

Langford is charged with a Class D Felony for forgery and an aggravated misdemeanor for third degree theft. Once the warrants have been issued and Langford is apprehended, he will be booked into the Greene County Jail. Raccoon Valley Radio will bring you more information as it becomes official.
