At the most recent Perry City Council meeting, there was an item approved to reappoint a member of the Planning and Zoning Commission. However, it was pointed out that the individual only agreed to stay on the commission until a replacement is found.
In light of that and another commission member stepping down, City Administrator Sven Peterson says the City is actively seeking replacements. “So we do have one, and (are) going to have two openings on the Planning and Zoning Commission. (They) take care of a lot of different things, and that commission is very instrumental in encouraging growth within the community. So if you do have an interest in serving on that commission, just fill out a letter of interest with some of your background and why you would be good to serve on that commission, and get it up to City Hall.”
Peterson explains that due to gender balance requirements from the State, the City will need two women to fill the positions. However, if no candidates are found within a few months, the Council would then be able to consider any male applicants as well.
