Friday, October 18th
A dispatcher at the Greene County Law Enforcement Center received a phone call from an anxious mother stating that her two year old infant was having difficulty in breathing and that she was transporting the child to the Greene County Medical Center emergency room for medical help. The deputy did locate and lead the vehicle to the medical center. The infant was doing well upon the deputy’s departure from the medical center.
The Sheriff was dispatched to the 100 block of North 16th Street in Grand Junction to help mediate a child custody dispute.
A deputy was dispatched to the 1100 block of 130th Street for a reported car-deer accident. Donna Kimberly Dumdei of Paton was westbound 130th Street when a deer ran onto the roadway causing Dumdei to swerve to avoid striking the deer and drove into the south ditch. Donna Dumdei was not injured but her 1994 Chevrolet Cavalier sustained an estimated $800 in damages.
A deputy was advised and is investigating the possible theft of a Suzuki 250 motorcycle from a residence in Rippey.
A deputy was asked to try and locate two reported vagrant hitch hikers stopping cars and asking for money near Highway 30 and N Avenue. The two were not located upon the deputy’s arrival.
The Jefferson Fire Department, Churdan Fire Department and a deputy responded to a farm field fire near 190th Street and M Avenue. The field had been harvested in the area of the fire. No damage to crop was reported.
A deputy is investigating a harassment complaint in Grand Junction.
A deputy was dispatched to the 200 block of M Avenue for a report of harassment and a possible assault between family members. The assault complaint is under investigation at this time.
The Chief Deputy Sheriff and a deputy are investigating a reported assault that occurred in Grand Junction.
A deputy and the Chief Deputy Sheriff were dispatched to the 1000 block of East Railroad Street in Grand Junction for a domestic disturbance. The deputy’s resolved the altercation without further incident.
Saturday, October 19th
The Chief Deputy Sheriff, while on routine patrol witnessed a vehicle run a stop sign at Harrison Street and turn onto south Elm Street proceeding to drive on the wrong side of the roadway. The deputy then activated his lights and siren as the vehicle then turned on West Monroe Street and reached speeds in excess of 70 MPH. The vehicle then turned onto South Grimmell Road where the vehicle then struck a utility pole head on. The driver then fled his vehicle and was chased and taken to the ground by the Chief Deputy Sheriff. Brian Jay Williams of Pilot Mound, Iowa, was subsequently arrested and charged with Operating While Intoxicated 3rd and subsequent offense, driving while revoked for OWI, failure to stop for emergency vehicle and no insurance involving an accident.
A deputy was dispatched to Grand Junction to investigate the vandalism to city property on Main Street.
The Jefferson Fire Department , the Churdan Fire Department and the Greene County Sheriff’s Office all responded to a structure fire 1300 Block 210th Street. The steel shop structure owned by Lee Murphy was a total loss with no injuries reported.
Sunday, October 20th
A deputy investigated a one vehicle accident that occurred late Saturday evening in the 2100 block of 240th Street. Yvonne Marie Locke of Jefferson was westbound on 240th Street when she reported that she did swerve to avoid striking a fox that had run across the roadway and rolled her 1996 Toyota Camry onto its top in the ditch. Locke was not injured but her vehicle did sustain an estimated $4000 in damages. Yvonne Locke was issued a citation for Failure to Maintain Control.
A deputy was advised of a dog running at large on Main Street in Grand Junction. The animal was not located upon the deputy’s arrival.
A deputy was advised of kids trespassing on Union Pacific Railroad property at the 19th Street and Sandoe crossing in Grand Junction. The youth were not located by the deputy at that time.
A deputy spoke to a Rippey resident about a trespassing issue.
A deputy was advised of a deer that had been struck and injured in the 1100 block of 220th Street. A salvage tag was issued by the deputy and the deer was taken for consumption by a Greene County resident.
A deputy was advised of a careless and erratic driver in Scranton. The vehicle was not located at that time but the deputy will be speaking to the owner of the car as to who the driver may have been.
In all cases when a defendant has been charged, this is merely an accusation, and all defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
