Greene County Football Camp continues today at 4 p.m. at the high school in Jefferson. Those in high school and middle school go until 6 o’clock, then youngsters in grades 3-6 will have camp.

Tomorrow and Thursday nights, something new will take place for those in the high school camp. They’ll actually be going to a camp- Camp Dodge, that is, at Johnston. Head Coach Caden Duncan explains the purpose of the trip. “The really overarching purpose is the team bonding aspect of it. The bonus is we get to work on football, basically, as much as we want.” The school provides bus transportation down and back, but Camp Dodge doesn’t charge for providing the facilities.
Coach Duncan added, “We’re staying in the barracks, and we’ll use the mess hall, the latrines, and all that. We’ll be eating some MRE’s (Meals Ready to Eat), too. It’ll be really good for team bonding, but we’ll also have some football practices and continue to work on the things we started at the beginning of camp.”

Official practice for football, and all Fall sports for Iowa high schools, is Monday, August 12.
