A Churdan man was recently sentenced to jail and probation for a domestic abuse incident.
According to court documents, 44-year-old John Henry Sabus pled guilty to an aggravated misdemeanor for domestic abuse assault by strangulation or impeding breathing. He was sentenced to one year in the Greene County Jail, with all but 14 days suspended. He will then be placed on probation for two years.
The charge stems from a domestic incident on April 6th. A Greene County Deputy responded to a 911 call in the 1000 block of H Avenue. A verbal argument turned physical and Sabus had injured the victim.
Sabus was also ordered to complete an Iowa Domestic Abuse Program and pay over $900 in court costs, victim restitution, correctional fees and surcharges.
