Starting tomorrow, the City of Adel will be closing a section of Meadow Road for a construction project.

The City is paving the section adjacent to the new Casey’s General Store location, which runs west from the intersection of Meadow Road and Highway 169 to roughly the entrance of Grace Lutheran Church. The road is currently concrete in some stretches and gravel in others, and this project is a step towards making the whole thoroughfare uniform. The City has plans to pave the entirety of Meadow Road eventually. The process is likely to be expedited due to the Adel-DeSoto-Minburn School District electing to build a new elementary school in the area, as Meadow provides the most convenient access to the location.

The current project is being paid in part by Casey’s, as they wanted the section of road running by their new store to be paved prior to opening. The construction will cause the street to be closed beginning tomorrow and lasting for 4-6 weeks, depending on weather, with detours in place.
