The Dallas County Board of Supervisors convened Tuesday morning in regular session.
The meeting started with open forum, where County Engineer Al Miller said they have about three weeks left of work on the new central facility storage building. He pointed out that the Secondary Roads Department will soon start moving equipment to the new building, which means the County can start discussing the sale of older buildings. The first action item was approval of payroll change notices, which included the creation of a roadside maintenance position for the Roads Department, and a pay plan exception for an office manager in the Recorder’s Office. The Board also approved a service agreement with Wageworks for continued flex spending account benefits.
Next the Board set August 20th at 2 p.m. as the time and date to receive and open bids for furniture in the new law enforcement center, and August 27th to hold a public hearing to award the bid. They also discussed but took no official action on Department of Natural Resources permits for the back-up generator for the facility, as well as a contract for inmate meals. Following that, the Supervisors approved a pay application in the amount of $44,247.97 from AECOM for work completed on the Auditor’s Office parking lot, as well as a change order for $3,816 to purchase additional river rock for the project.
Finally, the Board approved an out-of-state travel request to a conference in Wisconsin this October for Emergency Medical Services Director Mike Thomason and his three crew chiefs, as well as a request to use the courthouse lawn in September for the Iowa Prayer Caucus Network. They also held discussion on updates to the employee handbook and postage meters at the courthouse, but took no action on either item.
