Mike Piepel will lead Friday's program
The Greene County Historical Society invites everyone to two programs they are hosting this weekend.
The first is their monthly meeting on Friday. It will take place in the Grand Junction Community Center at 12:45pm. The focus of the program will be on the history of movie theaters in the county. Mike and Dianne Piepel will lead the program. One of the highlights will be the Sierra Community Theater, which started out as the Head Opera House in 1884. It will even include tidbits of knowledge such as there being four movie theaters operating in Jefferson at one time and two in Churdan.

The second program will be on Sunday at 1pm at the community center in Grand Junction. The program, “Grand Junction: 150 Years of Transportation and Transitions,” will be led by Grand Junction resident and City Council member Alan Robinson. He will include information about the mainline railroad that went through the City in the 1860’s through to today, and how transportation and economic situations shaped Grand Junction.
Both programs are free and open to the public.
