Felony charges were recently filed after Guthrie County Sheriff’s deputies executed multiple search warrants in Bayard earlier this month.
According to court records, an arrest warrant was served Monday for 46-year-old Shawn Matthew Lyons of Bayard, after he was previously arrested on July 14th when he arrived at the residence of Douglas Esslinger with methamphetamine in his vehicle while law enforcement was present. The criminal complaint states that Lyon admitted that more drug-related items were at his residence.
A search was then executed at Lyons’ home in the 300 block of 2nd Avenue after Lyons’ wife Sherri gave written permission. Around four grams of methamphetamine along with paraphernalia were found, and Sherri admitted knowledge of the items. Shawn is charged with possession of five grams or less of methamphetamine, a class C felony, and knowingly keeping a dwelling for use of controlled substances, an aggravated misdemeanor. Shawn already faces felony drug charges from the July 14th arrest. Charges are pending for Sherri.
Another search warrant was executed by the Guthrie County Sheriff’s office on July 14th at the residence of 18-year-old Conner Michael Weatherly in the 200 block of 3rd Street. Deputies found marijuana, scales, U.S. currency, and drug paraphernalia. When interviewed by law enforcement, Weatherly admitted he has been selling marijuana in Bayard for the last few months. Weatherly is charged with possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, a class D felony, and knowingly keeping a dwelling for use of controlled substances, an aggravated misdemeanor.
