#8 seeded, ADM, made the underdog run of the year, as the below .500 Tigers upset three higher seeds in District 8 play.  The pitching for the Tigers was phenomenal, and that’s an understatement, at that.

The starting pitchers for ADM, Logan Crannell, and Zach Fuller, have only allowed a combined three runs in a total of 19 and 1/3 innings on the mound. In the past three games, ADM pitching has struck out 24 batters, and the two starters have only given up 13 hits in the past three games.

In order for the Tigers to pull off the first round upset on Tuesday versus #1 seeded Cedar Rapids, Xavier, ADM must be as good on the mound as they were in District action.  Xavier’s offense is really good.  In fact, the Saints average nearly 9 runs per game, which has helped build Xavier’s 38-2 record.

The Saints have a team batting average of .350, and a team total of 13 home runs.  ADM bats a team average of .311, and has just two home runs for the season, however, the Tigers have one of the most efficient, small-ball style offenses, and can manufacture runs with singles, stolen bases, bunts, and aggressive base running.

ADM looks to upset Cedar Rapids Xavier on Tuesday at 11:00am in Des Moines at Principal Park.  Listen to the game live on K107.9, online at raccoonvalleyradio.com, or on the free KKRF mobile app.
