A Jamaica man has been ordered to serve a total of five years probation for an April incident in which he allegedly threatened to kill his domestic partner and burn their house down.

According to court documents, in a negotiated plea agreement that occurred on July 18th 39-year-old Rodney Donald Holmes was convicted of reckless use of fire, a serious misdemeanor, an amendment to his original first degree arson charge, a class B felony. He was also convicted of first degree harassment and child endangerment, both aggravated misdemeanors. Holmes was sentenced to five years concurrently for the three offenses, which were suspended in lieu of probation. He’s also ordered to submit to substance abuse and mental health evaluations, pay full restitution, court costs and fees, and must remain under a no-contact order with the victim for two years. The charges stem from an incident in which Holmes allegedly lit a piece of paper on fire and threw it on a pile of clothes, and threatened to kill the victim.
