19th
1108 hrs, Plains Area Mental Health workers requested a Welfare Check on a female in the 1000 Block of West Adams Street. The officer made contact with the female, who advised she was fine.
1442 hrs, James Cunningham requested officers at 108 South Maple Street for a Civil Child Custody Issue.
1605 hrs, Katherine Thomas reported a stray dog in the area of Park and Oak Streets. The animal had been picked up by an owner before the officer arrived.
2011 hrs, An officer assisted the GC Ambulance with a Medical Call in the 400 Block of North Chestnut Street.
2042 hrs, A family member reported to officers that a suicidal male was held up in a residence at 907 West Harrison Street with his 11-year-old son. Threats had been made against the male’s life, and that of his son. Officers were assisted by the Greene County Sheriff’s Office and the Iowa State Patrol when responding to the address. After several minutes, the male was coaxed out of the residence and taken into custody to be taken to ER for evaluation by a medical doctor. Sixteen firearms were located in the residence, with two fully loaded handguns. The firearms were removed and custody of them was given to a family member. The officers located narcotics and paraphernalia in Plain Sight all over the residence while searching for firearms. The items will be tested and future charges are pending.
20th
0654 hrs, Dispatch received a 911 Hang Up Call from the area of the 100 Block of Sunset Road. The officer did not locate anyone in need of assistance in the area.
1243 hrs, A DHS case Worker requested an officer conduct a Welfare Check on a juvenile female at 507 East Garfield Street. The officer made contact with the female and other family members. The juvenile was taken to ER to be evaluated by a medical doctor.
1314 hrs, Kyle Thomas reported his neighbors had been yelling and fighting for two hours. He requested an officer to speak with them at 102 East Monroe Street. Both parties advised they had been involved in a Verbal Argument, but they had worked through it and it was now over.
1618 hrs, A caller advised a tree branch had been blown down in the storm at Walnut and Monroe Streets. The branch had taken down a powerline. The officer stood by the downed energized line until Alliant Energy arrived to fix it.
1623 hrs, A deputy assisted the Jefferson Police Department by responding to a reported fire at the Wild Rose Casino, located at 777 Wild Rose Lane. The Jefferson Fire Department also responded. An electrical problem was found to be the source of the heavy smoke in the facility.
1626 hrs, An officer responded to an Alarm Activation at 300 American Drive. The building was secure and the officer believed the alarm to be storm related.
1715 hrs, Donna Trondson requested an officer at 304 East Monroe Street. A tree branch had fallen on her garage, causing damage to the garage and her vehicle. The officer estimated the damage to the garage at $5000.00 and $2500.00 to her 2008 Chrysler Pacifica.
1730 hrs, Pat Smith reported a tree down and partially blocking the road in the 600 Block of East Adams Street.
1730 hrs, Teresa Gaver reported her adult son was hiding in her closet and was packing up her belongings. The officer reported this information to her Mental Health Advocate.
2040 hrs, Kathy Kemper reported a broken tree limb hanging in the roadway in the 300 Block of East State Street. City Public Works Workers removed the hazard from the roadway.
2256 hrs, A Traffic Stop at Washington and Vine Streets resulted in Jeremy Andrews of Grand Junction being cited for, “Driving While Suspended.”
21st
0040 hrs, Matt Silbaugh reported a male yelling and screaming in the street in the 100 Block of Harding Road. The officer arrived and made contact with the male. The officer’s investigation led to the arrest of Zachary Franklin Minnihan, 30 of Polk City for, “Public Intoxication -Simple.”
0150 hrs, A caller advised of a Careless Driver in the 600 Block of North Elm Street. The officer did not locate the reported vehicle.
0333 hrs, An officer was requested at the Wild Rose Casino, 777 Wild Rose Lane, for the Theft of a Cell Phone. The officer was provided video footage of the event by staff. The video showed the cell phone fall out of a female’s pocket onto the floor. A male witnesses this occur and walks to the phone. He picks the phone up and places it in his pocket. A short time later he leaves the facility. The male was still in his vehicle in the parking lot and the officer spoke to him about the incident. He denied having the cell phone. A short time later, the cell phone was located in a grassy area of the parking lot, near where the male had been parked. Charges are pending at this time.
1209 hrs, Ione Lemay reported strange behavior from a tenant in the 1000 Block of West Adams Street.
1600 hrs, A caller advised of a vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed southbound on South Elm Street. The officer did not locate the reported vehicle.
2002 hrs, Teresa Gaver requested an officer at 1000 West Adams Street #6. The officer arrived and was told Gaver’s son and his wife were located in the garage and were loading up her property. There are no garages at the complex. The officer spoke further with Gaver, who refused to go to ER with the officer. The officer determined she was not a threat to herself and documented the event.
