Lot that was purchased by GCDC for Rowland Construction project
The Jefferson City Council will consider rezoning a property to allow for a housing development project.
Rowland Construction is looking to build three fourplexes, for a total of 12 rental units, on the lot at 501 North Olive Street. Greene County Development Corporation purchased the property from St. Joseph’s Catholic Church for $30,000. The funds were given to GCDC by the County Board of Supervisors to be used for a housing project. Rowland Construction will build the ranch and two-story style units, but first the property has to be rezoned from Residential Single Family to Multifamily Residential.
Jefferson City Councilmember Matt Wetrich talks about rezoning the property.
“It’s kind of ‘spot zoning’ I guess, if you will. But just kind of a technicality so we can have these new fourplexes that requires a rezoning of that area.”
A public hearing will be held on the topic and then the Council will consider approving it. The Planning and Zoning Commission has met and is recommending approval of it. If approved, GCDC Executive Director Ken Paxton anticipates the project to begin by the end of July.
