The Guthrie Center School Board met in regular session Monday.

The meeting began with the Board approving a premium increase of $13,525 to $53,151 for workers compensation with EMC Insurance, and a premium for equipment breakdown insurance with Specialty Underwriters Group, which decreased by $1,998 to $48,362. Next, the Board approved the resignations of Food Service Director Patricia Simpson and Assistant Track Coach Taylor Morris. Superintendent Dennis McClain says they are posting those job positions as well as for bus drivers, “We are looking for bus drivers also we’re short on those and so if anyone has their CDL or is interested in getting their CDL to drive (a) bus for us, please contact me.”

The Board also approved the hire of Garold Thomas as high school principal, and approved the southwest entrance of the high school as the location for a victory bell to be donated by the booster club. They then approved milk and bread bids from Anderson Erickson and Bimbo Bakeries, respectively. They also approved Carroll Control Systems to install a new air conditioning unit in the high school commons, and accepted a bid from Rumelhart Building Company for new cabinets for the high school art room. Finally, the Board approved school handbooks.
