History Boy Theatre Company in Jefferson is opening its doors to two special performances later this week.
On Friday will be a performance by Mulberry Street Productions of Boone of the musical “Kate Shelley’s Bridge.” It is written by Diana Helmer and is based on the story of Kate Shelley, who in 1881 risked her life to warn a passenger train crossing the Des Moines River during a thunderstorm, after a bridge collapsed near Boone. Showtime is at 7pm and admission is $10 for adults and $5 for students 18 and under.
On Sunday will be a performance by The Levins at 4pm. The duo features Jefferson native Julia Bordenaro and her husband Ira Levin and they will perform songs from their newest album, “Caravan of Dawn” and others. They have been touring nationally since 2010 with their harmonic music that has a lighthearted depth to the songs. Tickets are $10 at the door.
