An investigation into the death of a Jefferson man is ongoing, but new information has been released.
The Iowa State Patrol confirms that alcohol was a contributing factor in the single vehicle crash on June 22nd that killed 60-year-old Ronald Kolbeck. His truck hit a bridge rail and when authorities responded at 11:57pm to the incident on County Road E-53, Kolbeck suffered injuries, which he later died from at Greene County Medical Center. The state patrol also reports that Kolbeck’s blood alcohol level was above the legal limit. Since Kolbeck is deceased, no charges or citations will be filed as the investigation continues.
Greene County Sheriff Jack Williams said deputies were called out to an event at River Farms Recreation earlier that evening for reports of underage drinking. Williams noted that a deputy witnessed Kolbeck at the event prior to the crash.
The Sheriff’s office is continuing their investigation into the incident. Raccoon Valley Radio will bring you more information as it becomes official.
