Tomorrow is July 4th, and the public is once again invited to the annual Perry Fourth of July Celebration happening throughout the day at Pattee Park.
The festivities will start with the parade down Willis Avenue at 10 a.m., with lineup at 9 at the East Perry Plaza. After that, food and merchandise vendors will open for business at the park. Entertainment will once again be offered at the bandshell, starting with the Showtime Dance and Tumbling Studio at 12:30 p.m. That will be followed by a performance by the Perry Latino dance troupe, Los Laureles, at 1:30. The midday entertainment will wrap up with the return of the Bill Riley Talent show, which Chamber of Commerce Director Lynsi Pasutti promises will have a big turnout. “We’ve got several folks signed up from all over the place, including locally here in Perry. And that’s usually a great draw for people watching just the talent in general, and the excitement about qualifying for a larger competition.”
The activities will resume in the evening, starting at 6 p.m. with a concert featuring the local band Rukkus, which Pasutti says is always a big draw for the community. The day will wrap up with the fireworks show, set to begin at dusk (around 9:30). Additionally, the Raccoon Valley Radio Big Red Radio will be on hand for the festivities, broadcasting live, playing music, and providing public address services at Pattee Park throughout the day. As a reminder, the Fourth of July Celebration is just the first day of the larger Perry Sesquicentennial event, which will run through Sunday.
