U.S. Senator Amy Klobuchar
Don’t forget, today the public is invited to meet a candidate for President of the United States, and also take part in a community meal.
Minnesota Senator Amy Klobuchar, a Democratic candidate for the Office of President, will be visiting Adel today at 5 p.m. for a rally and meet and greet potluck. The event will be held at the Adel Stage and Pavilion, located at the northwest corner of the intersection of 10th and Main Streets. The Dallas County Democrats are co-hosting the event alongside Klobuchar’s campaign team, and they will supply meat for the potluck. Attendees are asked to bring a side dish or dessert to share as they get the opportunity to learn about the Senator’s Presidential run. There is no cost to attend, and no registration is required.
This is Klobuchar’s first trip to Dallas County since declaring her intention to seek the Democratic nomination for President in the 2020 primary election, and it will be her first major public appearance following last week’s Democratic candidate debates. She is one of 24 candidates vying for the nomination, with the first big step being the 2020 Iowa Caucuses, and she’s the ninth individual to visit Dallas County so far this year. Other candidates who have already visited include: former Texas Congressman Beto O’Rourke, and Southbend, Indiana Mayor Pete Buttegieg, who each visited Adel; former Maryland Congressman John Delaney, Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders, and Massachusetts Senator Elizabeth Warren, who stopped in Perry; Hawaii Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard and California Businessman Andrew Yang, who attended the Dallas County Democrats annual fundraiser in Adel; and New Jersey Senator Cory Booker, who visited Waukee.
