Greene County plays a make up softball game on the road in Gilbert tonight in Heart of Iowa Activities Conference play. Coach Tom Kennedy’s team is riding a season best four game winning streak and is 8-15 overall and 5-7 in conference play. After starting the season 0-8, the Rams have gone 8-7, and they’ve won the close ones during their winning streak.

It started last week with a 6-4 win vs. PCM in the second game of a doubleheader. That game saw Greene County overcome a 3-0 deficit. The next night the Rams won 7-6 at St. Edmond in Ft. Dodge, withstanding a three run bottom of the seventh. On Monday of this week at Nevada, the Rams trailed 4-0, but came back to win 6-5. Tuesday at home, Greene County led Roland-Story (Story City) 6-0 after one inning, only to have the Norsemen tie the game 6-6 before the Rams won 8-7. The combined winning margin in those four games is five runs.

To its credit, the team is 6-3 this season in games decided by one or two runs. Head Coach Tom Kennedy told Raccoon Valley Radio one of the things he likes about this team is they are resilient and will keep trying.
