A non-profit organization that focuses on helping Greene County School District teachers and staff raised even more money for their second year fundraiser.

The Bringing Optimism and Opportunity to Students and Teachers (BOOST) raised $67,443 at their second annual BOOST Bash earlier this year. That is a 25-percent increase in revenues from the inaugural year. The teachers and staff were notified about some of the projects and trips that they had requested and that the BOOST Distribution Committee had funded before the end of the 2018-19 school year.

Over $50,000 was given to 39 projects and trips, while another $5,000 went to teacher appreciation gifts and events. The rest of the funds will be kept for any additional requests for equipment, projects or trips that come up. Some of the projects that were funded included a bilingual library for the high school world languages department, a field trip to the Science Center of Iowa for some elementary and middle school students, and supplies for underprivileged high school students, among others.

The third annual BOOST Bash event will be held on March 28, 2020. To see the full list of projects and the breakdown of funds, click the link below.
